Claire van den Bosch, Clinical Director

Claire van den Bosch is Clinical Director of Heal Your Trauma. Claire is a UKCP-Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR Practitioner and Level 2 IFS Therapist. She has been in the helping profession for over 25 years, having started as a peer educator and counsellor during the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s. She then became a mentor for those in addiction recovery, before commencing a five-year training in psychotherapy in 2009. Claire takes a trauma-informed approach and works compassionately and creatively with addiction, dissociation, depression, anxiety and panic, phobias, obsessions, avoidance, body and food issues, control, shame and anger.

Her initial psychotherapy diploma from the CCPE was integrative-transpersonal, and she has since trained in EMDR, Attachment Informed-EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, working with both intergenerational and pre-verbal trauma, and with functional and structural dissociation. Along with her own experience of recovery, Claire draws on all of these approaches, tailoring them to the needs of her clients.

She has a Masters in Psychology, Philosophy and Physiology from Oxford University and is a registered member of the UKCP, an Accredited EMDR practitioner and is trained to Level 2 as an IFS Therapist. Alongside her clinical practice, which includes consulting one day a week at The Recovery Centre, Claire is a Facilitator on Attachment-Informed EMDR training run by EMDR Focus and EMDR Insight, specialising in EMDR and Addictions. She has also been teaching for several years on the Gestalt and Addictions modules of the Psychotherapy Diploma at CCPE.

In 2021 Claire met her dear and greatly esteemed friend and colleague Dan Roberts and is delighted to be appointed as the Clinical Director of his Heal Your Trauma project.

Claire lives in East Surrey with her partner, their cat and motorbikes – and when they are not working they are usually to be found riding up and down Welsh or Scottish mountains or else the twisty country lanes closer to home, preferably with some wild swimming along the way.
