Making an Appointment
I am an Internal Family Systems Therapist specialising in treating complex trauma. The IFS model is at the heart of my approach – I am a Level 3-trained IFS Therapist and I am passionate about this way of working because it takes such a warm, compassionate, non-pathologising approach to psychological problems. But I also integrate other highly effective models and wisdom traditions into my work with clients.
I’m an Advanced Accredited Schema Therapist, Trainer & Supervisor and integrate schema therapy, as well as compassion-focused therapy, trauma-informed stabilisation treatment and somatic therapies into my approach. I am a long-term meditator and student of Buddhism, so I also weave in ideas from Buddhist psychology, because this 2,500-year-old tradition offers such rich, wise insights into what causes suffering and how to relieve it. I specialise in helping people with the impact of childhood trauma, but work with a wide range of psychological problems. My practice is online, so I work with clients and supervisees all over the world via Zoom.
And I provide supervision and training for mental-health professionals – teaching counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists how to incorporate theory and techniques from internal family systems and schema therapy, as well as other trauma-informed models, into their practice.
Having first trained in cognitive therapy and then schema therapy, in recent years I have come to specialise in internal family systems therapy, which is a warm, compassionate and highly effective approach to healing trauma, as well as eating disorders, substance abuse, long-term or recurrent episodes of depression, chronic worry, trauma, panic attacks and agoraphobia, or anxiety disorders such as health anxiety or OCD. You may also have difficulties in your relationships, or just find day-to-day life challenging and upsetting. Even if you have tried other therapies and nothing has helped, IFS can often make a big difference – it can be deeply healing and transformative, even for the most hard-to-treat problems.
My teaching
I am a meditation teacher for Insight Timer, where you will find a wealth of resources (mostly free/donation-based) including courses, breathing techniques, guided imagery, mindfulness and self-compassion practices and much more. If you are struggling with your mental health – and especially if you have experienced trauma – practices like these are a crucial part of your healing journey, whether you are also having therapy or not.
I teach webinars and workshops for people struggling with their mental health, as well as writing my blog, which you can read on this site – sign up using the form below to get my latest posts delivered straight to your inbox. My website also provides a huge amount of free information about all aspects of psychology, psychotherapy, mental health and wellbeing.
Sessions are available from 11.30am-7.30pm, Monday to Thursday; and 11.30am-6pm on Friday.
Payment and fees
If you would like to see me for therapy, we will first meet for an assessment session to see if we’re a good fit for therapy. I am happy to offer an introductory call first, if that would be helpful for you. Fees for therapy and supervision are available on request. I have a number of low-cost spaces available for those who need them, for any reason. All of my therapy and supervision sessions last for 60 minutes.
I also offer longer, 90-minute therapy sessions and three-hour intensives, which can be very helpful in extending the IFS process of healing a part, and for accelerating transformation and change.
Please note – I am afraid I no longer accept private health insurance.
If you would like to arrange a session, email me or use the contact form to get in touch.
